As a U.S. citizen who works hard every day to pay my bills and provide for my family, I'm appalled that President Obama believes he can impose $2.4 billion in additional taxes on Americans in order to distribute free Obama phones to more than 8 million people.

I'm not opposed to charity, and I'm not opposed to helping my fellow Americans, but I am opposed to the aim of the Obama phone program, which appears to be nothing more than a scheme devised to barter for votes in the midst of the 2012 election; hence the expansion of the program's benefits.

This is why I implore every member of Congress to support and vote for H.R. 3481, the "Stop Taxpayer Funded Cell Phones Act."

Americans who were told that they are not paying for the Obama phone program are being lied to. One glance at our phone bills proves that we are paying; and we expect to incur even higher federal and state charges, because the Administration seeks to enroll millions more into this multi-billion dollar program that is funded by phone and Internet subscribers, like me.
