[Sen./Rep.] [FIRST NAME] [LAST NAME]
Washington, D.C.

Please protect our U.S. Constitution!

Americans are losing the right to privacy, and their right to free expression. I see a systematic and destructive effort to dismantle our First and Fourth Amendment rights.

The Supreme Court's ruling in Kentucky v. King essentially revokes our Fourth Amendment rights by allowing law enforcement to enter our private property without a warrant, and it gives TSA agents the authority to demand that innocent Americans remove their clothing in front of the public. Florence v. Board of Chosen Freeholders of the County of Burlington declares that police officers can strip search anyone who is arrested, even if for a misdemeanor.

Obama's executive order 12425 gives INTERPOL immunity from American law; the National Emergency Centers Establishment Act (HR 645), calls for the creation of at least six national facilities for the concentration of civilian internees; and the "FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012," further erodes our right to privacy by allowing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, or "drones," to fly across the United States and spy on American citizens going about their daily business.

These are only a few examples of the threats our nation faces.

Internet freedom is in danger, as the United Nations proposes a global usage tax and various bills have been proposed in Congress that threaten my privacy and freedom online.

This is especially troubling because dissenting political opinions are being threatened, as the IRS targets Tea Parties for audits, and the DHS report, "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment" defines a hate group as those who oppose abortion, gun control, and gay marriage. These are traditional conservative causes. Is the day near when a citizen is labeled a terrorist, simply for holding a certain political view?

Furthermore, H.R. 1981, "Protecting Children From Internet Pornographers Act of 2011" will not keep Americans safe from online pornographers - it will simply expand government control over American citizens who use the internet and will be a grave violation of our First and Fourth Amendment rights. Senator Harry Reid’s cybersecurity legislation gives the DHS broad control over private civilian networks that already have measures in place to deal with a cyber attack.

Our government should not be gathering data on law-abiding citizens who are going about their daily business and using the internet for legitimate activities. You must oppose government intrusion and regulations that infringe upon the rights of Americans.

Do the job we elected you to do, which is to protect the freedoms we are guaranteed under our Constitution.

Sincerely,
